I applied to Art Schools towards the end of Art College but got rejected by all of them. In that year, I worked full time. I also turned a spare room in my house into a studio and worked on my own stuff the rest of the time. I became focused, dedicated and built up a whole new body of work and a new portfolio.
When I applied to several universities the following year, my work had matured somewhat which meant I got unconditional offers, some on the spot for all those which I applied to.
That year out was a very valid experience as I became very driven and learned the quality of being focused and highly self motivated. I took this into all the things I have done since which has given me a strong work ethic.
These photos were taken (in my hometown in Worthing) not long before I went along to these interviews. I was feeling thoughtful and determined.
