Sweet Ditch are a group of female Artists who are friends that joined creative forces with the aim of putting on an exciting and diverse show in Summer 2014 at Safe House in Peckham. The Artists were made up of Illustrators, Musicians, Film makers, Sculptors, Performers and Painters.

They wanted to challenge and inspire one another by setting the project up, to boldly reclaim their role as an Artist. Some had not exhibited or shared work for some time and this gave each member the impetus and opportunity to vow to deepen their own artistic practice by having a deadline and discipline.

The event involved an exhibition with live performances by Carrie Topley and a duet dance performance by Kate Rubens and Nicole Cataldo-Davies with a Cellist accompanying them.

Our aim was to inspire others who for whatever reason may not be making the work that is inside of them, to deepen our own work ethic and to continue from that point on to create work no matter what. We ran a successful fundraising campaign with thanks to a great number of supporters and sponsorship. The private view was a full house, with a lively and engaging  atmosphere with interesting creative guests. We had very positive feedback and were happy to make a number of sales.

As a group of friends who wanted to focus on collaborating together the Sweet Ditch project gave each member a kick start to reignite their passion for making work, renewing their dedication and commitment to being an Artist. At the time all artists were based in London. Now each continuing with their own  journey in various forms and disciplines. The core majority of Artists are still based in London or elsewhere in the UK, others have moved to New York, Spain and Peru working on new projects.

Thank you again to everyone who sponsored this event, came along and purchased art works. The event was important to us, which is why it has been archived here to mark this point in our lives.
